Description

I’ve gotten into the awesome non-anime show, Steven Universe! It’s engaging, action-packed, has neat concepts, and is just so enjoyable for me, plus has plenty of space for fan-made stuff.

I put a preview for my watchers of her before. Now she’s finally completely finished!

Since all my friends are doing it, and I’m now part of a website devoted to this, I decided to make my own Gem Character (or Gemsona) myself. It was tough for me to get the art style right, especially since I’m more used to Cute Anime Style, but I think this turned out looking a lot like something you’d see in Steven Universe. I’m surprised on how well I did, didn't even think I'd pull it off. I drew her this time in Flash, not Fireworks, which actually was quite helpful for imitating the style.

Well here’s my first Gem character, Dravite. I hope you all like her. I plan to use her in various RPs on the website, and if I have time, draw more stuff of her too.
I’m working on a few other Gem characters too.

Name:   Dravite (more specifically, Dravite Facet: 26VQ Cut: 5H04)

Race:    Gem

Gender:    Genderless (referred to as a she)

Gemstone:    Dravite

Weapon:    Weaponized Hoverboard

Occupation:    Grav Racer, Stunt Performer, Warrior

Personality:    Dravite is a gemstone linked to Hyperactivity, which fits her personality. It also is Pyroelectric.
Her Gem is attached to her left Kneecap. It is mostly triangular but with blunt ends.

Dravite is a sort of Hoverboard Racer and is really hyperactive, adventurous, athletic, and a bit of a daredevil too, being a sort of Easy-Going Thrill Seeker. She loves the thrill of riding on her hoverboard, and spends a lot of her free time riding about the landscape and doing tricks on it. She has a good temper and humor as well, sometimes using some comicality to lighten up a situation. At times she can be a bit impulsive though. Also enjoys the company of others.

Dravite is not THAT much of a Pacifist. She can be really tough and knows when to fight, but isn't actively seeking battle and never shatters their gem (just bubbles it). However, her adventurous and extreme nature has often times lead to her trying to make certain missions and journeys longer, or doing unnecessary actions or tricks during it as to make the mission more enjoyable. This has sometimes gotten her into trouble.

Dravite is quite okay with Fusion, and is usually up to do it most of the time, provided the other Gems are completely okay with it. She thinks it can be quite the exhilarating and amazing experience. However, she never takes into account the responsibilities involved with Fusion, and what it can do to a Gem (such as losing their individuality, stability, wanting to de-fuse or not), which can get her in trouble with Fusion.
However, she cannot tolerate those who pick on Cross-Fusions (Fusions of not all the same Gem), just because they are not Same-Gem Fusions, and is perfectly open to Gems being able to fuse with whomever they want.

Abilities:    Like all Gems, Dravite possesses abilities such as agelessness, shapeshifting, can summon a Gem Weapon, can bubble objects for stasis, and can retreat to her gemstone to regenerate should she take too much damage.

Dravite's Gem Weapon, and also her favorite means of transportation and recreational sport, is a weaponized Hoverboard.

Dravite's powers revolve mainly around her hoverboard, which is not only for transportation, but is also armed, as for it has sharp blades on the front of it and can be used a shield (not like Steven's though but still rather durable and tough), which is her main means of attack. She either rides on the board, or wields it by grabbing an arm-grip on it. Dravite can also use her powers to make her Hoverboard come back to her at will.

When riding the Hoverboard, it levitates about a foot off the ground, allowing it to travel over a variety of terrain easily. It also hovers above water and other similar surfaces, so that she can go across large bodies of water easily too.
She can't really Fly with her Hoverboard, but she can Glide with it (there's a difference), allowing for aerial travel to some degree. Her Hoverboard can reach speeds up to 50MPH (80.47 KMPH), and thanks to being a Gem, and with a lot of training, she can maneuver and speed through easily, rarely ever falling off or crashing.

As mentioned before, Dravite’s hoverboard also functions as a weapon. She wields it by grabbing a flip-out hand grip near the front, and can use it like a sort of large sword or a shield. The repulsor lifts on the bottom can also be used while in weapon mode to force push back foes near it, useful in sword clashes or when holding it back while using it as a shield. Another use is that she can use the thrusters, while holding on, for a sort of sword dash attack.

Dravite can also store electrical energy in the hoverboard, basically allowing her to make her attacks stronger (relating to the Pyroelectric part of the real gem), like being able to discharge a short-ranged burst of electricity from the board. It is sort of like how Amethyst could charge her whips with energy for a stronger attack.
She can also independently launch the board as a sort of  projectile, though she has to wait some time before it returns back to her (like Garnet does with her Rocket Punch). If she stores enough electrical power in the board, it will overload and take on a new, massive, and dangerous form for a few moments.

While not linked to her board, another special ability of Dravite’s is super speed. Though not as fast as when riding on her board, she can run faster than a typical person, like at 10MPH (16.09 KMPH). She also possesses great athletic ability.

As you might expect, Dravite’s focus in combat is mainly high speed and mobility. However, she lacks really high defense and endurance, and although her attacks are somewhat good, she's not like Amethyst-brutal in physical power.

Also, when she overloads her Hoverboard for its stronger form, it will require a cooldown time afterwards. Doing this too often will cause the board to shut down to preserve functionality.

Backstory:    Originally, back on the Gem Homeworld, there was once a type of "Sport" called Grav Racing. This illegal racing circuit pits Gems with their own custom hoverboards against one another, taking competitors all over the planet to fly down a specified track, even in places not even designed to be a racetrack (like civilian areas and restricted areas and such), with no rules other than to win. Unfortunately, the lack of concrete rules and its dangerous nature caused Grav Racing to lose its legality as a sport on the Gem Homeworld. However, its popularity still continued on as tons of Gems still would watch it off the books, and a bunch of others (mostly outcasts and Off-Colors).

Dravite originally was a Homeworld Gem, and a Grav racer herself. At first, she raced with her own custom-made board, but she kept losing every race. This didn’t stop her, and she kept on practicing and trying to find ways to improve, even though it was getting hard for her. It wasn’t until later on that she discovered her own Gem Weapon, which was a Hoverboard that could be also used as a sword-like weapon. With this, she used her new Gem Weapon Hoverboard instead of her old homemade one. With its speed and maneuverability, she soon rose quickly to become the rookie of the year of Grav Racing, and her life took a turn for the better. With lots of practice and improvement, she went to become the fastest, quickest, and most powerful racer on the track, better than all her other Friendly-Rival Off-Colors she also knew.

Unfortunately for her, this lead to her becoming a sort of outlaw on the Gem Homeworld. She wasn’t a bad person, but she wouldn't do the duties of other Dravites, and all of her experiences in Grav Racing got her in trouble for multiple accounts of crimes such as Grav Racing itself (which as previously mentioned, was illegal), trespassing in restricted zones, and some accounts of property damage (mainly collateral damage from situations while Grav Racing). Nothing really serious, but she had done it enough times to get her in serious trouble and get her labeled as a Wanted Gem. P

Soon things took a turn for the worse. Dravite then came across a time when she had to fight, that is because of the threat of Homeworld Officials after her and her friends. To fight back, she found a way to combine combat with her racing passion, by training in how to use the offensive capabilities of her Hoverboard, and develop her own combat style. This helped for her, since it also allowed her to focus more on speed in battle, and quickly outmaneuver and avoid opponents, while taking them down with ease. She didn't like fighting a lot, but she didn't really have a choice. Though she still enjoyed it when the situation got really exciting and fast-paced, and she likes to make witty taunts and cool one-liners a lot in battle.

This got even further when the Gem Homeworld upped its law enforcement and militaristic activity. It became difficult for her to participate in Grav Racing, or even just ride her Hoverboard around for recreational sport, without the Gem authorities coming after her. Not just Grav Racing, but she could not stand many other rules that the Homeworld put into action, such as their negative views on Gem Fusion.

She decided to escape to Earth for she felt it would be better there, and would be in a place where Grav Racing wasn't considered a Crime, which she got to through use of a Warp Pad.

After arriving on Earth, she took up a small residence with a few other Gems on Earth. She became quite a legend over the years. On Earth, there was less problems, Grav Racing was not considered a crime, and the terrain was more to her liking. She was finally free to do what she wanted, with less strict rules and laws limiting her.

Now, she resides in Beach City, where she loves to ride around the place. She has been quite surprised on the amount of Gem Activity that has been on Earth, like the number of normal Gems, Gem Artifacts, and even Monster Gems that are there. Most of her time not spent hanging with others, going on missions, and fighting various threats such as Corrupted Monster Gems, is spent riding about at high speeds on her Hoverboard.

Nicknames:
Fastest (or Greatest) Grav Racer (Herself)
Master of Speed (Herself)
Grav Racing Champion (other racers on the Homeworld)
Wayward Delinquent (various Gem Authorities)
Comet Rider (Jamie)
The Fast One (Mayor Dewey)
Hoverboard-Riding Clod (Peridot)

One last note, typical Homeworld Dravites are used as Scouts or Couriers, and they all specialize in speed. Not all of them are racers like this one is, but they use their speed and mobility to quickly deliver information and items to others in the knick of time. They lack high endurance because they aren't meant to be direct fighters.

That is all. I hope you like Dravite.
If you want to use Dravite in any of your artworks, please ask me first. Also, please ask first if you want to do a Fusion with your Gem and Dravite (though I am open for it most of the time).

Also, do not “ship” Dravite with any other official or non-official Steven Universe characters, without my permission first. I don’t want her being shown in relationships with characters whom I would not want Dravite with, you know.
