With all the recent journals I've written recently about stuff I have a negative view on, I figured I'd liven things up with a journal about something I have a positive view on. It will probably make me feel better too.

I wanted to tell my watchers (who don't know already) what I think of the show on Cartoon Network that everyone is talking about, Steven Universe.

Well, I really really like it! I can totally see why it has gotten so much attention!

I've watched a few episodes so far, and I must say, it's one of the few Non-Anime shows I actually enjoy. I didn't have much expectations at first on it, but after I started watching it, I was really impressed! I haven't seen all of it (still have some catching up to do), but from what I've seen so far, I like it! I'd even say it's better than Adventure Time, and that's saying something!

The show is so great with Steven's adventures with The Crystal Gems, and the action is actually good! I am surprised with how great the combat is in it! Plus, it's got a good storyline, easily-noticeable continuity, actually threatening antagonists, and more! Not to mention, for some reason, it brings back memories of some other older shows I used to like, such as My Life As a Teenage Robot, Avatar, and more. Those Gem Fusions are really cool too, and I like the stuff with how the Crystal Gem's core and abilities work too! Also, it's not like that dang My Little Pony, or for that matter, Teen Titans Go, or Breadwinners, thank goodness!

My favorite characters have to be Garnet and Lion. Garnet is such a badass, and Lion is such a lovable little Pet/Guardian creature.

A lot of my friends I've noticed are designing their own Steven Universe Fan-Gems too. I might design my own, but I currently haven't any good ideas for one. I like my characters to be really out-of-the ordinary and also have stuff like clever twists on the series' specifics or things like that, as to make them less run-of-the mill and more unique. I haven't any ideas for any Crystal Gems who would be like that though, but if I do, I might design my own. Heck, I might get them into a group too if I want.

Well, that's my two cents on the series. So now you know, I actually like Steven Universe.

Anyway, if you want to create a Gem that's more unique, how about one that focuses more on using her shape-shifting abilities in combat more than her weapon? Or you could go with one with special powers like Lapis.

Once you're up to speed with the series, here's a list of gemstones that can help get you started: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_… I hear that it's also worth looking up the meanings of gems, as some of the symbolism associated with them has cropped up in the Gem's personalities.

Personally, I don't know if I want to make a Gem character or not. I'll have to see what you end up doing and maybe I'll make something in response. I did have an idea for a villain floating around my head though: a mad scientist who has created various bodies that she can attach her gem to, who's interested in examining Steven and humans in an attempt to artificially replicate him. Even Jasper is disgusted by her (though more because she sees it as making herself weaker), though her response is that she does it just to show that science can (with a VERY disturbing grin on her face the whole time).

Anyway, if you want a really unique gemstone to work with, check out Ammolite:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ammolite
