Bionicle MOC: Exo-Matoran and Kivette

Description

This one I think is one of my most impressive MOCs yet. I was trying to make a vehicle of sorts, something that a Matoran could ride in. I decided to make like an Exo-Suit, sort of like the Exo-Toa, but for Matoran instead. Here's what I came up with. It's pretty big too, and I love how well the Matoran fits inside.

Originally I designed this to work with Metru Nui Matoran, but it turns out that my own custom Matoran, "Kivette," whom you can see below, actually fits rather well inside of it too.

This is what I had in mind for a backstory for them. Yes, I know I also used the Nynrah Ghosts as an idea for the origin of my Bohrok Xed MOC too, but hey, they built both the Fohrok AND the Exo-Toa, so it still makes sense.

The Nynrah Ghosts had been known for their various technological advancements and experiments, mainly in things for the Makutas. Before they created the towering powered armor units known as the Exo-Toa, they had built a series of mech suits for themselves, known as the Exo-Matoran.

The Exo-Matoran were specialized robotic armor suits that could be piloted by a Matoran, mainly as a means of self-defense, or to protect them against threats such as hostile Rahi. They were equipped with blades that flip out from behind the hands, and repeating beam guns near the chest, and were plated with reinforced protodermis armor. However in order to work, these mech suits would drain the Matoran Pilot's physical strength and energy through a cable that attaches to the pilot in order to power them. As such, it is not recommended to pilot them for extended periods of time. Unlike the Exo-Toa, the Exo-Matoran lacked Autopilot features and could not work on their own.

The Exo-Matoran proved to be quit powerful, one Matoran using one being able to slay even a Muaka by himself when equipped with one. Some of the Nynrah Ghosts would later also start crafting them for other Matoran to sell to them and use.
Later on, when the Nynrah Ghosts were recruited by the Brotherhood of Makuta and commissioned to create the Exo-Toa, the Nynrah Ghosts based the design of them off the Exo-Matoran, but more specifically fitted to work for a Toa (more specifically a Toa Hagah originally), or as autonomous robotic sentries, or as possible host bodies for a Makuta to possess.
Despite the power that the Exo-Matoran possessed, they were no match for the legions of Dark Hunters who overwhelmed them once they had found about how the Nynrah Ghosts turned on them and sabotaged some of their creations like the Fohrok.

A few inactive Exo-Matoran suits still remained. Kivette would later come across one in her adventures, and utilize it to become a better hero and fend for herself.

This is one of my larger MOCs, and I was surprised on how functional it is. As you can see in the bottom right pic, a Metru Nui Matoran fits inside well, though Kivette's Matoran Design works in it well too. It won't work on all Matoran though, like the Mcdonalds, and Mata-Nui Matoran won't fit. They have to be roughly the size of a Metru Nui Matoran (or slightly shorter), and have Bohrok-like feet in order to get inside. Perhaps a Av-Matoran or Agori with the feet replaced with Bohrok Feet might fit too, but I haven't tried that yet.

A few pics on the right show how the Matoran gets inside the Exo-Matoran. Here's the steps on how the Matoran gets inside the Exo-Matoran.
-Pull down the Chest Plate of the Exo-Matoran, and lift up the two Black Vahki Arms.
-First, push their feet together so they are side-by-side, and with their arms up, and then put them standing up in the Exo-Matoran. The empty joint connectors lining the bottom and the triangular Technic Lift-Arms near the bottom sides help keep their feet in place (and why they have to have Bohrok Feet in order to fit inside).
-Close the Chest Part of the Exo-Matoran. Note that for some, it may not need to be closed all the way, but just enough to keep the Matoran inside.
-Pull down the two Black Vahki Arms so that they go over the Matoran's shoulders. They are meant to be like "seatbelts" for the Matoran.
-Pull down the Matoran's arms.
-Not truly needed, but then attach the end of the hose piece onto the Matoran. This is supposed to be the cable in which the Exo-Matoran draws the pilot's strength and energy in order to fuel itself. I usually try to attach it to the shoulder or arm.

And then he's inside it now.

I didn't want this to be too much like the Boxor, or the original Exo-Toa, so I tried for something more unique for this Bionicle Exo-Suit. I had some inspiration from things like the Mech Suits in Kirby Planet Robobot, the Atlesian Paladin 290 from RWBY (mainly in the arm weapons), and the Mech Suit used by Peridot in Steven Universe.

The Exo-Matoran has both normal hands, and can also flip out a pair of blades from the arms (inspired by how the Atlesian Paladin's fists sort of flip out like that too). You can see in the leftmost pics how the blades flip out. The Repeating Beam Guns are the little yellow cones near the chest. Different than the armaments of the Exo-Toa as you can see, and more unique that way.

I like how this thing turned out, really bulky, and actually functional as an Exo suit, without needing to use pegs or anything to hold them in place. My only problem is that the legs aren't that posable. It was the only leg design I could think of that would still support the upper body's weight, and not clash too much with the design. Then again, the original Exo-Toa's legs weren't that posable either. The arms I loved how I managed with them too, with how those Roborider Torsos worked in the arm design.

Hope you all like this one too. I mean just imagine her like taking on loads of Rahkshi or something like that, while piloting this thing!

It is indeed quite an awesome mech! I love how much it looks like it comes straight-up from the first years of BIONICLE, you can see its similarities with the ExoToa but still looking different... Kinda, like, Wario & Waluigi? =P The use of parts and the designs around are very good, I really like what you did for the legs using the rubber band stands and the several feet on the... well, feet. xD The whole body has a great build, and the Matoran are very secured despise the lack of (obvious, at least) connections for it. The only suggestion I can have is to find a spot in the shoulders/back to attack Kivette's blaster so she can take use of it while piloting this beast =D

Marvelous work, dear! ^^
